Current Automation Mbombela runs a WIL programme for qualifying electricians that would like to enter the solar and alternative energy market.
This is offered to any top achieving student from various local colleges, such as White River Technical College or Forek Institute of Technology or similar. The WIL or "work in learning" programme generally runs for 1 year and we accept only 1 qualifying student at a time. The student is required to submit a CV, qualifications, matric certificate and a letter from the college they are applying from. The student will be required to sign a student contract and will be required to study; work and get along with our existing team. We do not compromise on our quality to a client and thus the student is expected to perform, learn in work and apply skills to the tasks at hand.
Over the years this has become a great entry level opportunity for many students. The programme has been running now for 9 years, and has seen many of its students gainfully employed in alternative energy positions in our country. Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal and Mpumalanga. Of these 9 students, 4 have been woman, which we are very proud of their commitment and enthusiasm in the field.
Skills learnt include:
Solar panel installation
Backplate building and wiring
Inverter programming
Battery installation
Stock controls and products
Electrical diagrams and wiring
Electrician work and signing off of skills by our Installation electrician
Victron certification courses
On site installations; trouble shooting or repairs
Residential work; Commercial work and Project work
Private training with our MD - Craig Gebhardt
